Vision House provides permanent housing for low
income and homeless HIV/AIDS affected individuals
and their families.
Vision House is a result of a "tripod" partnership
between Interfaith Housing Development Corporation,
Liberty Baptist Church and the Cook County Hospital
HIV Primary Care Center. The building provides 25
apartments for families affected by HIV/AIDS.
Vision House now provides housing
and services for 43 clients including 15 adult
males, 11 adult females,
9 adolescents and 5 children under the age of 10.
Most of the referrals to Vision House are from Cook
County Hospital. Patients are finding it difficult
to secure permament housing. The reason for this
difficulty
is characterized by homelessness, un-employability,
chemical dependence, mental illnesss, and low income.
It is only compounded with the infection of HIV/AIDS.
